| The Office of the State Fire Marshal, in conjuction with the Metro Fire Chiefs of Maryland will host a Fireworks Safety News Conference, tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to provide the media and public with accurate, up-to-date information regarding Maryland's fireworks laws and safe usage—particularly concerning Ground-Based Sparkling Devices, which remain a topic of frequent confusion across the state.
The event will feature remarks from Acting State Fire Marshal Jason M. Mowbray, along with expert speakers who may include:
Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Services
Metro Fire Chief's Council of Maryland Johns Hopkins Children's Center – Injury Prevention Program
Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Office of Bombing Prevention
The Metro Fire Chiefs Council will hold its monthly meeting alongside this demonstration. This will be an opportunity to interview the respective Fire Chiefs of their county or city.
A live safety demonstration will be conducted by the Office of the State Fire Marshal's Bomb Squad, showcasing both legal and illegal explosive devices. All speakers and participants will be available for group or individual media interviews following the demonstration.
