National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Warns Public of Fraudulent Website

By National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF)
April 14, 2025

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is issuing an urgent warning to the public about a fraudulent website impersonating the organization and attempting to deceive supporters into making illegitimate donations.

The counterfeit website, operating under the domain fireheros.org, is a deceptive and unauthorized clone of the Foundation’s legitimate website, www.firehero.org (note: no “s” in the official domain). This phishing site unlawfully uses the NFFF’s name, logo, and copyrighted materials in an effort to collect cryptocurrency donations under false pretenses.

“This is a serious case of brand impersonation and phishing,” said NFFF representatives. “The fraudulent website exploits the goodwill of those who wish to support the families of America’s fallen firefighters. We are taking immediate action to protect our supporters and uphold the integrity of our mission.”

A formal takedown request has been submitted to the domain host to remove or suspend the fraudulent site. In the meantime, the Foundation is urging the public to exercise caution and verify any communication or donation request claiming to be from NFFF.

How to Safely Support the NFFF
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation does not solicit donations via phone, nor does it work with third-party telemarketers. To ensure your contribution directly supports the families and memory of fallen firefighters, please use one of the following trusted methods:

Online: Donate securely at www.firehero.org/donate

By mail: Send completed donation forms to:
National Fallen Firefighters Foundation
P.O. Drawer 498
Emmitsburg, MD 21727

By email: development@firehero.org

By phone: (301) 447-1365

If you encounter suspicious websites, emails, or phone calls related to the Foundation, please report them immediately to: firehero@firehero.org

Stay Informed and Stay Safe
The NFFF remains committed to honoring the courage and sacrifice of America’s fallen firefighters and supporting their families. Protecting the trust of our supporters is a responsibility we take seriously.

Fire Prevention Tip: Always verify websites and donation sources before providing personal or financial information. Look for secure connections (https://) and confirm the legitimacy of charitable organizations through trusted channels.
