By Mechanicsville Volunteers
August 20, 2019

At 1709 hours as storms were rolling thru the North End, Company 2 and surrounding departments were dispatched for a house fire at 36975 Dixie Lyon Rd, the caller reported smoke from an upstairs window. Engine 23 responded immediately, clearing a fire alarm at White Marsh Elementary, Tanker 24 responded immediately from Station 2 as well.

As there are no hydrants in this area Tanker 24 called out the fill site for tankers, utilizing the hydrant at the intersection of Thompson Corner Rd and Three Notch Rd. Engine 23 arrived first reporting fire showing from the Bravo, Alpha, and Delta sides of the roof of a two story, single family, type IV construction home.

Engine 23s officer completed a circle check of the home and Company 2 units made an interior attack with the crew from Tanker 1002 applying water to the exterior. Personnel had to force the front door open and found one resident still inside who had just woken up thanks to the working smoke alarms. He was assisted from the home as well as one dog. Other searches of the home were negative.
Units worked for approximately 2.5 hours opening up and performing overhaul operations. No injuries were reported. The State Fire Marshall was requested to the scene. Chief 2 had the Command.
