Early this morning at 0402 hours, units from the Dunkirk VFD were dispatched for the motor vehicle accident at Route 4 & Kirksville Lane. Squad 5, Ambulance 59 & Safety Officer 5 arrived on location and found a single-vehicle that had struck a telephone pole head-on.

Unfortunately, the front seat passenger was deceased in the vehicle. The driver had fled the scene was but apprehended a short time later by law enforcement personnel. After the Sheriffs Department Crash Reconstruction Team completed their investigation, Squad 5 extricated the deceased patient.
