Afternoon House Fire in Morganza

By Mechanicsville Volunteers
June 3, 2019

At 1208 hours, Company 2 and surrounding departments were alerted to a house fire across from Chopticon High School. Engine 24 responded first calling out the fill site hydrant at Morganza Turner and Grandview Haven Dr. Enroute the incident location was updated to 25111 Colton Point Rd.
Tanker 2, Squad 2, and Engine 23 also responded.

Chief 7A arrived first reporting smoke showing from the Bravo side of a 2 story single family residence. Chief 7A had the Mechanicsville Command.
Engine 24 dropped a supply line with the Humat Valve halfway up the driveway at a position to allow for tankers to turn around. Engine 24's crew stretched a crosslay knocking visible fire on the exterior of the house before moving inside.

After extinguishing fire in an interior closet on the first floor, Engine 24's crew moved to the second floor to look for further extension. As other units arrived, a back up line was stretched and all companies worked to complete significant overhaul operations looking for hidden fire.
No injuries were reported. Units operated for approximately 2 hours.
